TriDistrict CAPS (Center for Advanced Professional Studies) gives high school students the chance to explore careers in a hands-on, real-world way—while still in school. Through this partnership between School District 197, Inver Grove Heights, and South St. Paul, students from Two Rivers, Simley, and South St. Paul High Schools can take courses that connect directly to careers they’re interested in.

Students can explore a range of career areas through CAPS programs, including:
  • Healthcare
  • Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Transportation and Skilled Trades
  • Computer Science and Information Technology
  • Natural Resources, Sustainability and Food Systems

In CAPS, students don’t just learn about careers—they experience them. They work on real projects, collaborate with local businesses, and learn from professionals in the field. These experiences help students build durable skills, confidence, and a clearer sense of what they want to do after high school.

CAPS courses are designed for juniors and seniors and offer both elective and core credit. Programs also offer college credit and/or industry certifications. Whether a student plans to attend college, enter the workforce, or pursue another path, CAPS helps them make informed decisions and graduate with a plan for what comes next.
